Choose-a-Domain is a reseller of an accredited registrar with Nominet.

As a reseller of an accredited domain name registrar, Choose-a-Domain is, upon accepting your domain name registration application, your sponsor for that application. We will in most circumstances show up on the whois lookup of one of the aforementioned domains that ICANN oversees as the domain registration agent.

What is Nominet?

Nominet UK is the registry for .uk internet names. Nominet UK manages a central database of domain names ending in .uk. They manage the authoritative database of .uk domain name registrations. They are a not-for-profit company and have members instead of shareholders. Nominet is officially recognised as the .uk domain name registry by the internet industry, users and the UK Government. They do not proactively sell domain name registrations, but provide neutral advice on registering and maintaining your name.

Nominet also operates a Dispute Resolution Service that attempts to resolve domain name disputes.

Nominet UK manages a central database of domain names ending in .uk. The company was established in 1996 and is recognised by the UK internet community as the official manager of the .uk Top Level Domain (TLD). Nominet maintains the database of .uk registered internet names.

Every organisation or individual connected to the internet is uniquely identified by a numerical address that is mapped onto a more memorable name. As a result, most countries have a central Registry - such as Nominet UK - to store these unique domain names.

Nominet is not a governing or regulatory body, but provides a public service for the .uk namespace on behalf of the UK internet community.
